A major crash involving nine cars shuts down westbound lanes of the Long Island Expressway during rush hour, leaving one in critical condition.
Massive crash pile-up blocks multiple LIE lanes during morning rush
Multiple cars were seen piled on top of one another on the Long Island Expressway during the morning rush hour today.
The crash shut down all westbound lanes of the LIE near 27th Street in Queens, approaching the Midtown Tunnel, according to an advisory from Notify NYC. At least nine cars were involved in the crash, police reported.
One person is in critical condition while three others had serious but non-life-threatening injuries, fire officials say.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
