Explosion hits RAF base in Cyprus: Sources confirm blast with damage and casualties unclear

An explosion has hit a British Royal Air Force base in Cyprus.

A strong explosion was heard at the British Akrotiri Air Force base in Limassol at around midnight local time after a ‘security threat’ was reportedly declared.

Personnel at the base were said to have been warned of a potential threat and told to ‘return to your homes and stay inside until further notice’.

British forces in Cyprus have been told to seek shelter over “imminent” Iranian security threat.
