Just In – Reports that MP Muhammad Raad, the Hezbollah bloc leader in the Lebanese parliament, was killed in an Israeli airstrike – Al Hadath
Mohammad Raad, head of Hezbollah’s Parliamentary Council and a member of Hezbollah’s leading Shura Council, as well as a member of the Lebanese Parliament, was killed.
He held a degree in philosophy from Lebanese University and was a teacher before becoming politically active. He was an early follower of Imam Musa al-Sadr, then became one of Hezbollah’s founding members in the 1980s.
He was also involved in the Committee to Support the Islamic Revolution in Iran, served as the first editor-in-chief of Hezbollah’s newspaper Al-Ahed for a decade, and helped establish the Lebanese Union of Islamic Students.
Since 1992, he had been a Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Nabatieh District (south Lebanon) for Hezbollah.
He was the long-time head (since 2000) of Hezbollah’s parliamentary bloc, known as the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc (Loyalty to the Resistance Parliamentary Bloc), which represents the group’s political wing in Lebanon’s parliament.
His son Abbas Raad was killed in southern Lebanon (reported in earlier conflicts). Raad remained active in Lebanese politics as of early 2026, including discussions on electoral alliances, sovereignty, reconstruction, and dialogue amid ongoing tensions.
