Saudi Aramco temporarily halted operations at its Ras Tanura refinery following a drone attack.

The facility, located on Saudi Arabia’s Persian Gulf coast near Dammam, is one of the kingdom’s largest with a processing capacity of 550,000 barrels per day and serves as a key hub for domestic refining and crude oil exports.

According to the Saudi Ministry of Defense, two drones targeting the complex were intercepted and destroyed by air defenses. Debris from the interceptions caused a limited fire at the site, which was quickly brought under control. No injuries or civilian casualties were reported.

The shutdown was implemented as a precautionary measure while authorities assess any potential damage. The situation at the facility is described as under control.
