Khamenei ordered lethal crackdown with full state approval, sources say

Information obtained from sources within the Supreme National Security Council and the presidential office indicates that the nationwide killings during Iran’s most recent protests were carried out on the direct orders of Ali Khamenei, with the full awareness and approval of the heads of all three branches of government.

According to the information, the Supreme National Security Council authorized the use of live ammunition, and forces from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the Basij were primarily responsible for the shootings that led to the deaths.

The operation is described as highly coordinated and deliberate, not the result of isolated or spontaneous clashes, and is considered unprecedented in Iran’s history in terms of its geographic reach, intensity, and the scale of fatalities over such a short time.

This assessment was reached following a multi stage review beginning Sunday, based on converging evidence from a source close to the Supreme National Security Council, two sources within the presidential office, accounts from IRGC sources in Mashhad, Kermanshah, and Isfahan, as well as eyewitness testimony, family accounts, field reporting, medical center data, and information provided by doctors and nurses across multiple cities.
