🚨CBN PSA for those who have had their tickets cancelled due to the current situation and the tickets were purchased with Chase ultimate rewards grandfathered points either through the preferred card or the reserve card

Do NOT cancel the itinerary on chases online portal!!

If you do then your points will not go back to their grandfathered status but rather to a 1 point base rate. You need to call chase customer service and have THEM cancel your itinerary from their end.

When u cancel it online it’s considered voluntarily and you lose the grandfathered points status. When they cancel it for u with a waiver from the airline that is granted to them, it’s considered involuntarily and the points go back to their original status.
