Cyprus Points to Hezbollah Following Drone Strikes on British Bases

Cypriot authorities are indicating that all current evidence suggests Hezbollah in Lebanon is responsible for launching the drones that targeted British sovereign bases on the island.

While the first “Shahed-type” drone caused limited damage to a runway at RAF Akrotiri around midnight, a second and third drone were successfully intercepted by air defenses on Monday morning.

President Nikos Christodoulides has emphasized that Cyprus is not participating in any military operations and is focused on maintaining the island’s security.

Despite the strikes occurring shortly after the UK granted the U.S. permission to use its bases for defensive operations, officials believe the drones were likely launched before that announcement was made.
