Iran Claims US-Israeli Strike Targeted Natanz Nuclear Facility

Iran’s Permanent Representative to the IAEA, Reza Najafi, officially alleged during a special session of the Board of Governors in Vienna that the United States and Israel targeted the Natanz nuclear facility during their recent joint military operations.

Najafi described the action as a “criminal and brutal” attack on a peaceful, safeguarded nuclear site and called on the 35-member board to categorically condemn the strikes.

He further accused the U.S. of using deception and disinformation as a pretext for invasion, specifically criticizing the current administration’s approach to diplomacy.

In response to these claims, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi stated that the agency has so far found no indications or evidence that any of Iran’s nuclear installations—including Natanz, the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, or the Tehran Research Reactor—were hit or damaged in the latest wave of strikes.

Grossi confirmed that radiation levels in countries bordering Iran remain at normal background levels and that the agency’s incident and emergency center is continuously monitoring the situation.

However, he noted that the IAEA has been unable to establish direct communication with Iranian nuclear authorities and urged for the immediate restoration of these essential channels to allow for a full independent assessment.
