Israel prepares to reopen airspace next week, Transport Minister says

Israel’s Transport Minister Miri Regev said today that preparations are underway to gradually reopen the country’s airspace, possibly as early as next week, depending on security developments.

She said an organized plan is in place to ensure the safe and orderly return of Israelis stranded abroad. Israel is in continuous contact with neighboring countries to coordinate traveler movement, and thousands have already returned through land crossings, she noted.

Regev added that despite media reports, current airspace guidelines remain unchanged due to the security situation.

She said she has directed the head of the Israel Airports Authority to meet with domestic airlines to ensure they are ready for reopening. The talks will focus on security procedures, flight schedule adjustments, and airport operations to support the phased return of commercial flights.

While the timeline depends on developments on the ground, Regev said authorities are working to bring Israelis home safely and restore normal air travel as quickly as possible.
