Lufthansa Extends Night Flight Cancellations to Tel Aviv

Lufthansa group continues night flight suspension to Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion, citing Middle East tensions until January 31.

The Lufthansa group of carriers says it is extending the cancellation of night flight operations to and from Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion Airport through January 31, citing the “current situation in the Middle East.”

The move comes as the Lufthansa group, whose carriers also include SWISS, Austrian Airlines, and Brussels Airlines, and Eurowings, decided last week to operate flights to and from Tel Aviv since Thursday, 15 January as daytime flights through January 19, in anticipation of a potential Iranian attack.

“This means that crews will fly back directly without an overnight stay on site,” Lufthansa says in a statement. “These former connections operating during nighttime have mostly been rescheduled to operate during daytime.”

The German airline group says that “affected passengers will be automatically rebooked and proactively contacted.”
