Reb Moshe Shternbuch Condemns Disrespect in Yerushalayim
HaRav Moshe Shternbuch shlita, speaks out against grievous act of disrespect shown toward gedolei Yisrael in the Maa-Sha’arim neighborhood of Yerushalayim.
Charedi extremists hung effigies bearing the names of HaRav Moshe Hillel Hirsch Shlit”a and HaRav Dov Landau Shlit”a, publicly desecrating kavod ha-Torah in a manner that caused chilul Hashem and deep pain to many in klal Yisrael.
In the rare footage, HaRav Moshe Shternbuch Shlita is seen giving instructions on what to write in the letter against the act.
He proclaims: “I protest vehemently against this disgrace in Maa-Sha’arim, a foolish and brazen act that brings dishonor upon the tzaddikim and talmidei chachamim. Such an aveirah has no place among Yidden who revere the Torah, and I cannot remain silent even for a moment.”
The Gadol went on to lament the audacity of those who would mock gedolei Yisrael, especially in an era when klal Yisrael desperately needs rachamim and kavod ha-Torah. He charged the community to distance themselves from those whose actions cause chilul Hashem, and to strengthen their commitment to Torah and yiras Shamayim.
His heartfelt plea concluded with a profound prayer: “May Hashem have mercy upon us, uplift our neshamos, inspire pure spirit from above, and bring about our geulah b’karov b’yameinu, Amen.”
