USS Gerald R. Ford Sails for Eastern Mediterranean After Crete Stop

The nuclear-powered supercarrier USS Gerald R. Ford departed the NATO naval facility at Souda Bay this morning after a three-day resupply stop.

The vessel is now heading into the Eastern Mediterranean and is expected to reach the coast of Israel within the next 24 hours.

Once in position, the Ford will join a massive U.S. naval buildup that already includes the USS Abraham Lincoln and more than a dozen other American warships stationed in the region.
