World Economic Forum President Børge Brende Resigns Amid Epstein Ties

Børge Brende, President and CEO of the World Economic Forum, resigned this morning following intense scrutiny over his past interactions with Jeffrey Epstein.

The former Norwegian Foreign Minister’s departure follows a U.S. Department of Justice disclosure revealing he attended three business dinners with Epstein and exchanged numerous messages with him in 2018 and 2019.

Brende stated his decision was made to allow the Forum to continue its work “without distractions,” though he expressed regret for not conducting a more thorough background check at the time.

While an independent review concluded no new concerns were found beyond those already disclosed, the Board of Trustees has appointed Alois Zwinggi as interim President and CEO while searching for a permanent successor.
